The beauty of the Web is that it allows everyone to have a voice, but this means there are millions of voices competing to be heard.  If your website is to be effective, useful and successful, it needs to be easily found, it needs to be user-friendly and interesting to use, and it needs to provide well-structured information. It also has to look good. Most importantly, it needs to understand who its primary audience is.
Below is a list of questions that you should be reviewing before designing and building a website. These are a few of the questions that we ask our clients to ensure the website will be an effective marketing tool for their business.
  • What budget do you have?
  • Who is your target audience?  For example; industry, geography, type of person, attitudes.
  • What is your key message?
  • How do you want the audience to react or feel?
  • What personality and tone should the site have?
  • What colours/shapes/images/photography should be used?
  • How often will your content need to change?
  • What do you want your site to do?
  1. Attract more business
  2. Sell products (Ecommerce)
  3. General Online brochure
  4. A place to show your work (online portfolio)
Answering these questions with accurately and detailed should help ensure your designer will properly understand what they need to design.
