While the term CMS, or Content Management System is becoming more well-known, some still are unfamiliar with the term. Allow me to explain what it is for those of you who are interested.

A web CMS is an application that allows you, the web site owner, to publish, edit, and add/modify content on your web site without the need for being very technical. But that's not all! The best part is that you can make changes etc. without making your web site temporarily unavailable!

And with most CMS's, you can usually access the software by logging in to your account from any web browser, such as Internet Explorer. More than one person can be logged in at a time, allowing your company to deligate content updates/changes to multiple users. For example, the sales person at your company can be set up with a username and password so that he or she can log in and only manage the content for the sales or product pages.

Our CMS, WebWiz@rd, works exactly as I have described above. There are 2 different user types: Administrators and Users. Administrators set up additional users and give them access to the pages that they want them to be able to manage. Our CMS is different in that not only can you manage all of the pages of your web site, but you can also manage additional "modules" such as Photo Galleries, Newsletters, and Blogs.

There are many different CMS's out there. Some are easy to use, while some are not so user-friendly. Some are free to use, some are not. Some are simple and only allow you to manage very specific parts of your website, for example, a calendar of events, while others allow you to manage all pages, and even add new pages.

If you would like to see a free demo of our CMS, and to find out how we can help you maximize the power of your web site, please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or 519.884.4111.
