Many of you already know that you should be updating your website content as frequently as possible. Web designers and online marketing experts will agree that content on a website is one of its most important assets. The quality of the content shows that you care, and can be responsible for converting website traffic into sales.
There are a lot of great ways to add some visual appeal to a clean design. Small details like icons and headings can keep a layout user-friendly and sleek, while at the same time, adding enough spice to make the design professional and nice to look at.
Headings and Subheadings
Headings help people locate information more quickly. They also add variety to a page, giving the eyes a break. Dominant headlines draw the eye when your audience enters a page and help to break up your content into scanable chunks.
Icons
The primary goal of using icons should be to help the user absorb and process information more efficiently. Using icons tastefully enhances even the most minimal content by giving it a graphic feel. But be careful-- icons should only be used to draw attention to your specific points in your content. A great site that provides free icons that I use on a weekly basis is Icon Finder.
Videos
Last but not least, videos. A video does not have to be long. Short and sweet is actually better. YouTube and Vimeo are great for uploading short clips such as client testimonials, how-to guides and product catalogues. The code generated by these sites can easily be placed into any page in your WebWiz@rd site. The bonus of video is that it’s often far more engaging than plain, old text.
If you're not happy with your site content, or are just in need of a refresher, you can easily create that “wow” factor by spicing it up with some headings, icons and videos.
