We have been very busy over the summer with a bunch of new modules that are available to our clients in WebWiz@rd 3.  Today I am going to talk about our newest module, the "Locations Module".  To see it in action you can visit http://www.choihome.ca/ which is a new website we just recently launched for Donald Choi Canada.

The locations module allows users to enter their postal code or zip code and it brings back the closest location to them.  With the Donald Choi example, they use it as a way to find out where the closest dealer is that carries their furniture.

By entering in your postal code on the home page you will see it brings you to a map showing you the 5 closest locations.  Each bubble on the map can be clicked on for information and directions.  You can also click details to be taken to a page specific for that dealer (location) where it provides all the necessary information about them.

There are many other powerful features that can be used with this module, such as creating location types.  For example, you could use it for a business that has a Drive-through at some of its locations.   By clicking that as a location type it would have a different colour flag to show you only the Drive-through locations on the map.

There is also the ability to add Keyword filtering to each location.  For example, you can set up locations to allow the user to filter based on their hours of operation.  If a user wanted to find locations open on Sunday, they can easily click off a box under advanced options to narrow down their results.

A roofer that I met with recently suggested this feature would work great on a website for them.  Anyone who was interested in doing business with them would be able to enter in their postal code to see jobs that were completed in their area.  By using the advanced filtering, it could be set up to allow the user to choose the colour of shingles they are considering, so they can actually see it on a whole roof as opposed to a small sample.

If you are interested in finding out more about this module, please feel free to contact me at 519-884-4111 x 111.

I will be talking about more of our new modules in my next post.
