A picture is worth a thousand words may be a cliché statement but there is no doubt that imagery, be it photographs or illustrations, lends a huge impact to the look of any good graphic design. There are a few other considerations to keep in mind when it comes to sourcing and selecting photos for a website in particular.

Every design will use images for different purposes. Whether you wish to use imagery to convey a certain atmosphere, lifestyle or “feel” for the site overall or you just need some professional product shots or illustrations to market your products/services, images will definitely reach a psychological plane in which text/descriptions cannot convey on their own.

This next series of blogs will touch upon some suggestions, advice, and resources to help you find the right images that will bring your website to the next level. There are millions of images available out there so I’ll help to define some key factors to ensure you find the right images which will convey the message you intend while still keeping technical, budget and legal (copyright) considerations in mind.
